On Existence (& Education):
Lao Tzu said if you try to change something, you will destroy it. It took me a long time not to disagree with him. Or understand what I think he meant.
I do not want you to change. But what I do crave for all of us is education.
The original Latin concept of education meant leading a person out of themselves, guiding them to their true intrinsic nature--the way the sun, water, and soil does for a seed.
This website/art project is my contribution toward this dream curriculum.
Tobě (to You),
“But do you really mean, Sir," said Peter,
"that there could be other worlds--all over the place, just round the corner-like that?"
"Nothing is more probable," said the Professor, taking off his spectacles and beginning to polish them, while he muttered to himself,
"I wonder what they do teach them at these schools.”
- C. S. Lewis
"My hope and wish is that one day, formal education will pay attention to what I call education of the heart."
- Dalai Lama
"They don't just need information; they need meaningful information.
They don't just need knowledge; they need knowledge that makes sense and inspires belief. They need knowledge that helps them understand why learning and living are worthwhile. [...]
Why would teenagers trust knowledge that brings no joy?"
- Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi (on what pupils need from teachers)
